What does an Economist do?

Economists perform economic research and analysis and develop and apply theories relating to the production and distribution of goods and services and people's spending behaviour. The job duties of an economist include research, analyse and record the effects of government labour market programs on economic and industrial growth; study the effects of government economic and monetary policies, expenditure, taxation and other budgetary controls on the economy and the community; or help formulate government economic policies.

Economists may work in industries such as finance, labour market, environment, taxation, resource or transportation.

How to become an Economist?

To become an economist, you usually have to hold a bachelor's degree in economics at a university. A higher-level degree in these fields may be required. You may be required to have a strong background in Mathematics.
